Satellite images appear to show Iran constructing a vast underground nuclear fortress beneath a granite mountain, in a complex believed to be designed to withstand attacks.
The facility, known as the ‘Pickaxe’ complex, is being built up to 100 metres below ground to protect nuclear centrifuges, according to the images.
Donald Trump has vowed that Iran will never be allowed to possess a nuclear weapon. But experts have warned that the depth of the subterranean site could make it difficult to destroy, even with America’s most powerful bunker-busting bombs.
