The Beau Lamarre-Condon trial has opened with prosecutors alleging the former NSW police officer disguised himself as an Uber Eats delivery driver before entering the home of Jesse Baird and Luke Davies.
Crown prosecutor Brett Hatfield SC told the jury that Lamarre-Condon was wearing a motorcycle helmet and high-visibility vest, carrying a delivery bag and armed with his work-issued semi-automatic pistol.
Mr Hatfield alleged Lamarre-Condon had replaced at least some of the weapon’s operational bullets with another make. He also said the officer should not have had the gun because he was not on duty on the day of the alleged killings, or the following day.
The Crown alleges he gained entry to the home by using a key he had previously stolen or secretly copied.
Mr Baird was shot twice in the kitchen, the prosecutor alleged. The second shot was an “execution-style shot” which went through the floor, the jury was told.
Mr Hatfield said Mr Davies was in Mr Baird’s bedroom and attempted to call Triple Zero. Lamarre-Condon is accused of shooting him in the head through the bedroom door.
The Crown alleges Lamarre-Condon then carried out an elaborate series of actions to conceal the alleged crimes, including seeking help from friends.
Prosecutors also allege he tried to “make it look like they had just disappeared”.
