Emergency crews are working to rescue a driver after a two-truck crash in Meckering, about 130km east of Perth, left both vehicles engulfed in flames.
The collision occurred at around 6.45am on Wednesday at the intersection of Great Eastern Highway and Quellington Road. Police said a refrigerated van had collided with a truck towing a container trailer.
Firefighters had brought the blaze under control shortly after 7am, but 10 career and volunteer firefighting teams remained at the scene alongside four paramedic crews at about 9.30am.
An emergency rescue helicopter was also dispatched as crews continued efforts to reach the trapped driver. The condition of those involved, and the exact number of people in the vehicles, had not been confirmed.
Great Eastern Highway has been closed in both directions near Quellington Road, with motorists urged to avoid the area.
