Milwaukee and surrounding parts of south-east Wisconsin face a difficult Tuesday morning commute as dense fog cuts visibility across the region, with clearer skies and unusually mild temperatures expected later in the day.
The National Weather Service has issued a Dense Fog Advisory for Milwaukee, Kenosha, Racine, Waukesha, Washington, Ozaukee, Sheboygan and Fond du Lac counties until 9am. Visibility could fall to a quarter of a mile or less, creating hazardous driving conditions. ([beta.weather.gov](https://beta.weather.gov/forecast/county/55079/?utm_source=openai))
Drivers have been advised to reduce their speed, switch on their headlights and leave extra room between vehicles. Forecasters expect the fog to linger into late morning, particularly in eastern Wisconsin, before gradually clearing.
Once conditions improve, Milwaukee is forecast to enjoy a largely sunny afternoon, with temperatures reaching about 66F (19C). Areas close to Lake Michigan will remain cooler, while south-easterly winds are expected to stay light.
Milwaukee weather outlook
More fog could develop overnight, with temperatures falling to around 43F (6C). Wednesday may begin similarly, but sunshine and south-westerly winds should push temperatures towards 68F (20C).
The settled spell is expected to continue through the rest of the working week. Thursday should be sunny with a high near 70F (21C), followed by another bright day on Friday reaching about 68F (20C).
Saturday is likely to be partly sunny and warmer, with temperatures rising to around 72F (22C), before Sunday brings a mix of sunshine and cloud and a high close to 70F (21C).
A change in conditions could arrive late Sunday or on Monday, when a cold front may bring a few showers and return temperatures to more typical October levels.
