A Milwaukee police officer was shot in the leg while pursuing a homicide suspect on Tuesday evening, 8 September, according to police sources. The incident happened near North 37th Street and West Wright Street in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
Milwaukee Police Chief Jeffrey Norman later gave an update on the shooting, which was being treated as a critical incident.
The suspect reportedly left a vehicle and opened fire at the officer. The officer returned fire, striking the suspect in the head, and the suspect died.
The officer’s injuries were described as non-life-threatening. The Milwaukee County Medical Examiner’s Office confirmed it had been called to the scene.
Police urged members of the public to avoid the area while the investigation continued.
