A suspect has been identified and an arrest warrant issued after a Montgomery County shooting left a 33-year-old man dead outside a sports bar in Rockville, Maryland.
Shayan Solimani Damabi, 21, of Gaithersburg, is wanted on charges of first-degree murder and using a firearm during a violent crime in connection with the death of Nicholas Franklin Njuki.
Police said the shooting happened at about 2am on Sunday, September 13, in the car park of Quincy’s Potomac Bar & Grille at Potomac Woods Plaza, off Seven Locks Road.
Investigators believe the two men had argued inside the restaurant, reportedly over a UFC fight. Njuki then left with another person in a vehicle, while Damabi drove away separately.
According to police, the vehicles encountered one another again near Fortune Terrace and Northside Park Boulevard. Njuki got out and approached Damabi’s car, where detectives allege he was shot.
Police also allege that Damabi fired at Njuki’s companion, who managed to drive away and call 911. Damabi is then believed to have fled the area.
Officers found Njuki suffering from a gunshot wound and emergency crews attempted lifesaving measures, but he was pronounced dead at the scene.
Damabi is described as about 6ft 2in tall and weighing approximately 205lb. Police believe he may be driving a red 2018 four-door Acura TLX with Maryland registration 3GD6732.
His whereabouts were not known on Wednesday, September 16, when Montgomery County police appealed for information. Anyone who can help locate him or provide information about the shooting is asked to contact Crime Solvers of Montgomery County on 1-866-411-8477.
