Naomie Harris has revealed how preparing for Skyfall transformed her approach to fitness, saying she now prioritises strength training and is “obsessed” with her health.
The actress, who played field agent Eve before becoming Miss Moneypenny in the James Bond series, has previously joked that she was “very, very unfit” before landing the 2012 film. She said she could not even run around the block when she began preparing for the physically demanding role.
Harris underwent months of intensive preparation for the Sam Mendes-directed film, including running, yoga, circuit training, combat work, stunt driving and weapons training.
Although the regime was initially a major adjustment, she has credited it with giving her a lasting interest in exercise. Strength training has since become a central part of her routine, alongside a wider focus on maintaining her health.
Harris has also spoken about changing her diet after an unsuccessful attempt to follow a raw-food plan left her unwell and anaemic. She said she moved towards a more balanced approach centred on vegetables, exercise and maintaining her energy levels.
The 49-year-old has previously described the benefits of becoming fitter as feeling more energised, sleeping better and feeling more alive, while acknowledging that she had once been reluctant to exercise.
