Paige Bueckers and Azzi Fudd have revealed that they ended their relationship more than a year ago, before Fudd was drafted to the Dallas Wings.
The WNBA teammates discussed the split on Fudd’s podcast, “Fudd Around and Find Out”, while making clear that they remain friends and have continued to work professionally together.
Bueckers said Fudd’s draft selection was unrelated to their relationship, adding: “She was not drafted because she was my girlfriend. She was drafted because she deserved it. She’s an amazing human, amazing basketball player. And we’re still friends, we’re still cool.”
She also asked fans not to direct negativity or hate towards either player’s friends or family following the breakup.
Fudd added: “We don’t need messages on what the other person is doing.”
Bueckers said both women would eventually move on with new partners, explaining: “Sometimes in life two people are just in different points of their life.”
The announcement ended with the pair forming a heart symbol with their hands before breaking it apart and exchanging a fist bump.
