Paul O’Grady’s Kent mansion has been relisted for £2.4 million after his widower, Andre Portasio, cut the asking price for the seven-bedroom Edwardian property.
Knoll Hill House, near the village of Aldington, was home to the television star for almost 24 years. It first went on the market in September 2024 for £3.5 million, but was reduced to £2.65 million in January 2025 after failing to attract a buyer.
The property was subsequently withdrawn before returning to the market at its latest price, with luxury property brokers Moveli appointed as the new agents.
The estate includes a swimming pool, a purpose-built dance studio, two guest cottages and extensive grounds. The listing now describes around 25.5 acres, compared with the 20.62 acres previously advertised, as well as “additional land by separate negotiation”.
It is unclear why the advertised acreage has increased. O’Grady previously bought land near the house to prevent it becoming a motorbike scrambling and paintball site, and to allow sheep to be kept there.
The stated floor space has also risen from 5,655 sq ft to 5,859 sq ft, while the number of reception rooms has increased from seven to eight in the latest particulars.
The new sales material does not mention O’Grady by name, although images still show reminders of his life at the property. Framed photographs of the comedian and his beloved dogs Buster and Olga can be seen on the wall of the mirrored dance studio.
Buster, a Shih Tzu-Bichon Frise cross, and Olga, a Cairn Terrier cross, both appeared on The Paul O’Grady Show. O’Grady once joked that Buster received more fan mail than he did; after the dog died in 2009, he announced the news on air, with Olga later taking his place until her death in 2018.
The listing presents the home through darker, more stylised interior photographs, including a larder stocked with vintage champagne, a black marble bathroom and a roll-top bath set against wood-panelled walls decorated with seafaring paintings.
The dance studio, built by O’Grady for Portasio, includes a steam room, gym and upstairs guest suite. A second property, known as The Timber Cottage, contains an open-plan sitting area and kitchenette, a galleried bedroom and a shower room.
The grounds are described as including ponds, a barn, stables, an orchard, paddocks and woodland.
Some neighbours previously criticised Portasio’s handling of the sale, with residents accusing him of “cashing in” after the first price reduction. One neighbour said: “We’ve not seen Andre much at all. It just feels like he’s trying to cash in on the property after Paul died with all these various plans.”
The neighbour added: “It’s really sad. Now he’s lowered the price. There’s a big difference between the sort of people who would pay £3.5 million and £2.65 million, in my opinion.”
Another neighbour, Fred Jaeger, who lives opposite the house, previously described it as the best house in Kent. He said: “I just wish Andre would decide what he wants to do with it.”
O’Grady bought the property from comedian Vic Reeves in 1999 for £650,000. Writing in his book Country Life, he recalled that on his first night there: “I couldn’t sleep I was so excited.”
The late presenter’s former and current neighbours have included comedians Julian Clary and Alan Carr.
