A Perth man and his two young children have been found dead inside a villa in Bali in what Indonesian police are investigating as a suspected murder-suicide.
Damien John Shaw, 56, and the children, a six-year-old boy and a four-year-old girl, were discovered at the property in Kuta at about 10.15am on Sunday.
The children were found on the floor inside the villa at Arca Bungalow, while Mr Shaw, who was from Fremantle, was also found dead inside.
Police were alerted after Mr Shaw’s wife reportedly heard her daughter crying during a phone call with her husband. When neighbours were unable to get a response from the villa, they forced their way inside and found the three bodies.
Mr Shaw’s wife is understood to have left Bali for Jakarta about four days before the deaths were discovered. The family were believed to have been living together in Bali before her departure.
An autopsy is due to be carried out to determine the cause of the deaths as the Indonesian investigation continues.
Australia’s Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade has confirmed it is providing consular assistance to the family.
“Owing to our privacy obligations we are unable to provide further comment,” a spokesperson said.
