Mary Gaudron, Australia’s first female judge appointed to the High Court of Australia, has died aged 83.
Her death was confirmed on Sunday evening by Australia’s Governor-General, Sam Mostyn, who paid tribute to the former justice’s contribution to the country’s legal system.
“The nation remembers Mary Gaudron KC, whose distinguished career transformed Australia’s legal landscape,” Ms Mostyn said.
She extended her condolences to Justice Gaudron’s family, friends, colleagues and all those who admired her contribution.
