A pregnant mother and her two young children were among those killed in a Pennsylvania mass shooting in Erie, police said. Angelina Stone, 24, was days away from giving birth to her son, Kyrie.
Stone’s baby was due on October 14, according to a recent social media post. Her children, five-year-old Isiah and nearly two-year-old Amari’anna, also died in the attack on Friday.
Police were called to Perry Road after reports of gunfire. Witnesses reportedly saw a man shooting outside a home before he went inside.
Officers and a SWAT team established a perimeter around the property and attempted to persuade the suspected gunman to surrender. Police later entered the house and found additional victims.
Nine people were initially reported dead, including two children and the suspected gunman, who authorities said appeared to have died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
Erie Police Chief Rick Lorah described the scene as “deeply disturbing”. Officials have not announced a confirmed motive and have not publicly identified a suspect.
Family friends have remembered Stone as a loving mother, while relatives have spoken about the loss. A GoFundMe appeal has been launched to help cover funeral costs.
