Romesh Ranganathan and Sebastian Croft have won Celebrity Traitors after a tense final, splitting an £83,000 prize between their chosen charities.
The pair, who played as Faithfuls, saw off Traitors Maya Jama and King Kenny to claim £41,500 each. Croft chose Choose Love, while Ranganathan selected the Refugee Council.
Ranganathan, 48, and Croft, 24, embraced as Claudia Winkleman congratulated them outside Ardross Castle, before joining the other finalists for a celebration around the fire pit.
“I trusted Bash and I was right to. I cannot believe it! I just really hope my mum is proud,” Ranganathan said.
He later described forming a friendship with Croft as the highlight of his experience, saying he had relied on believing the actor was a friend during the end game.
Croft was reduced to tears after the result, telling viewers: “That was just incredible. This might actually be the best day of my life.”
He said the moment Ranganathan identified himself as a Faithful, followed by their embrace, had been particularly memorable.
The result came after the Traitors appeared to have been in a strong position for much of the series. Jama, 32, and Kenny, 29, had remained under the radar until James Acaster exposed himself as a Traitor during Thursday’s episode.
Celebrity Traitors reaches a dramatic final
At the start of the final episode, Jama and Kenny murdered Michael Sheen. The actor said he was gutted to have come so close to the end, but described his experience on the show as unforgettable.
Tensions later escalated at the final roundtable, where Jama became embroiled in a heated exchange with James Blunt. In a decisive move, Kenny turned against his fellow Traitor and voted for Jama, who was banished after receiving the most votes.
Acaster’s revelation the previous evening had marked a first for the programme. Under questioning from Sheen over the murder of Ross Kemp in plain sight, he told the group he had been made a Traitor against his wishes.
Filming was paused while Acaster gathered himself, with the pressure of the game said to have become difficult for him. He ultimately received every vote and admitted, reluctantly, that he was a Traitor.
His exit marked the beginning of the end for the remaining Traitors, paving the way for the Faithfuls’ victory in the final episode.
