Former Home and Away star Sarah Roberts has undergone surgery to remove a golf-ball-sized uterine fibroid after severe pain repeatedly sent her to hospital.
Roberts, who played Willow Harris in the Australian television drama until 2021, revealed that she had a myomectomy last week. The 41-year-old actress, DJ and podcast host has previously spoken about fertility struggles and her diagnosis with endometriosis.
Explaining the procedure in an Instagram post, Roberts said she had nicknamed the fibroid “Felicia” and joked that she could now say: “Bye Felicia!”
She said the growth had “grown to the size of a golf ball”, sending her to emergency whenever her period arrived and making it difficult to carry out everyday activities without severe discomfort.
Roberts recently launched the podcast Cracking On with former Home and Away co-star Sam Frost. However, she said her recovery had forced her to pause work and follow medical advice to rest.
“Sometimes you can’t crack on with life. You just have to sit on your own a*** crack and DO NOTHING (doctor’s orders!),” she wrote.
Roberts also thanked hospital staff, strangers, friends and family for their support, saying her immediate goals had become simply to shower, move around and have coffee.
Her partner, cameraman Jake Iesu, travelled from Canada to support her during her recovery. Roberts was previously married to Home and Away actor James Stewart, before their split in 2023.
Reflecting on the experience, she said she hoped she would not have another visit from “Felicia” and urged herself to listen more closely to her body.
