Four women have given evidence in the second week of Russell Brand’s rape trial at Southwark Crown Court, describing alleged incidents involving the comedian, actor and wellness guru between 1999 and 2009.
Brand, 51, denies three counts of rape, three of sexual assault and one of indecent assault relating to six women.
One complainant, a television worker, alleged that Brand orally raped her in a bar toilet in 2004. A radio station employee separately claimed he assaulted her in front of members of his entourage.
A woman who said she was a fan of Brand alleged that he anally raped her at his London home in 2009. Another complainant, who worked for Channel 4, told the court that he placed his head in her lap and demanded a massage.
During cross-examination, Ian Winter KC suggested that one of the women could easily have fought back. He also questioned another complainant about why she had not reported the alleged incident at the time.
Friends and family of the woman who made the 2009 allegation described her as “extremely distressed” afterwards.
The defence case is due to begin next week.
