A 19-year-old man has been accused of filming sex with a University of North Carolina at Charlotte student without her consent and sharing the video in a fraternity group chat.
Alexander Michael Evanoff allegedly recorded an explicit video while having sex with the woman before sending it to a chat containing 32 members of the Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity, authorities said.
Law enforcement officers claim Evanoff admitted recording the encounter without the woman’s permission and distributing the footage.
The woman allegedly confronted him and asked whether sending the video made him “appear cool”. Evanoff is alleged to have replied that it did, before apologising for sharing it.
Evanoff was arrested on Monday and charged with one count of disclosing private images and two counts of felony secret peeping. He was released the following day on a 10,000 US dollar bond.
The alleged victim is a student at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, but the university said Evanoff is not enrolled there. His connection to the institution remains unclear.
A university spokesperson described the alleged conduct as “reprehensible”. Evanoff’s attorney has been contacted for comment, but no response had been received.
