Rapper Too $hort has apologised for saying he would attend a welcome-home party for Sean “Diddy” Combs after the music mogul is released from prison, admitting his comments were “a little insensitive”.
In a new video, Too $hort said he had not understood the full extent of the allegations when he made the remarks and had since listened, learned and read more about the issue.
“I do not condone abuse in any kind of way, not emotional, not physical not sexual, and I don’t support anybody that does it,” he said.
Too $hort had previously said on a podcast: “I’m going to the Puff Daddy coming home party.” He has now said he regrets putting those words into the public domain.
The rapper apologised to everyone he had hurt, as well as to the women in his life, including his daughter. “I do not support abuse or abusers and I just want to say I’m sorry for putting those words out there,” he said.
He also clarified that he had not intended to suggest he would attend a party involving the allegations surrounding baby oil. Instead, he said he had been referring to a celebration he would hold for friends.
Too $hort said he had attended dozens of Diddy’s parties in the past, but claimed he had never seen a naked person or a sexual act at any of them. He described the events he attended as social occasions and “great parties”.
He nevertheless expressed hope that redemption was possible for Diddy, saying he hoped the rapper would have changed by the time he came home. “I hope that when he comes home that he’s not an abuser anymore,” he said.
