Two men have been arrested in London on suspicion of assisting Iran’s intelligence service, police have said.
The arrests were confirmed by the Metropolitan Police as part of an ongoing inquiry into suspected foreign intelligence activity conducted in the capital.
The suspects remain in custody for questioning by investigators, the force added.
The Metropolitan Police said they would not release further details about the operation or the identities of those arrested at this stage.
The development comes amid heightened scrutiny of foreign intelligence activity on UK soil, with authorities stressing that such inquiries are pursued with the utmost seriousness.
