A Virgin Australia flight attendant has become an online sensation after serenading passengers during a domestic flight from the Gold Coast to Melbourne.
Cabin manager David Hammond performed Tina Turner’s 1984 hit What’s Love Got to Do With It? after picking up the aircraft’s intercom receiver and using it as a makeshift microphone.
Footage shared on Instagram shows Mr Hammond singing in his Virgin uniform. While some passengers appear disengaged, others sway, clap along and join in.
The performance took place on Thursday’s VA736 service, a daily flight between Queensland and Victoria that departs at 11.55am.
The video was posted by the Due Baci Publishing account, which described the flight attendant as “an absolute icon”.
“There’s something wonderful about seeing people genuinely LOVE what they do,” the post said. “The passion. The joy. The positive energy. We are SO here for it.
“Grazie, David, for making our experience with Virgin Australia such a joyous one.”
Virgin Australia joined the reaction, replying: “David providing the in-flight entertainment,” followed by a winking emoji.
