Tate McRae has released her new single “Housewife”, marking her first new music in nearly a year. The 23-year-old singer-songwriter accompanied the track with a music video filmed in the south of France.
McRae described the song as being about “a woman who can’t be contained” during an appearance on The Tonight Show, where she also discussed the video’s location.
“We shot [the video] in the south of France, and it was so magical,” she said.
The singer revealed that she had first teased “Housewife” in August, although fans missed what she said was a clear clue during her Lollapalooza set.
“My fans in particular, we drop Easter eggs all the time, and they get none of them,” McRae said. “They’ll always catch on to things that are completely wrong. They never get the most obvious Easter eggs. This was literally in my [Lollapalooza] set. It said ‘Housewife’ when the set started.”
McRae co-wrote the song with Julia Michaels, Ryan Tedder, Grant, Aaron Shadrow and El Guincho. The accompanying video was directed by Pierre-Ange Carlotti and features Thjimen Oerlemans, Ruben Moreira and Simon Lööf.
McRae is also due to perform at the 2026 Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show on Sunday October 18, alongside other performers. The event will be available to watch on YouTube and Victoria’s Secret’s social channels.
