Alex Volkanovski has revealed plans for a cooking show collaboration with Islam Makhachev, including a trip to Dagestan to hunt on horseback and prepare food over a wood fire.
The featherweight champion discussed the idea while speaking from his hotel in Abu Dhabi ahead of his UFC 333 title defence against undefeated contender Movsar Evloev.
Asked who he would most like to feature on his YouTube programme, Cooking With Volk, Volkanovski chose Makhachev, saying: “I love the idea of Islam Makhachev, doing it with him.”
He said the pair had already discussed filming together in the mountains of Dagestan.
“I’m going to Dagestan, in the mountains, horseback hunting, huntin on horseback, catching whatever we catch, and then cooking it literally over a wood fire,” Volkanovski said.
He added: “This is something that we’ve already chatted about. I’m telling you, it’s gonna happen. We’re gonna do it.”
Volkanovski and Makhachev are familiar opponents, having fought twice in 2023. Volkanovski moved up a weight class for their first contest, which he lost by a narrow decision, before suffering a knockout defeat in their second meeting.
Cooking With Volk has attracted more than 62 million views in about a year, and Volkanovski said he also wants to develop a series featuring former opponents. He said a collaboration with Ilia Topuria was already being worked on.
Before any filming takes place, Volkanovski must first face Evloev in the UFC 333 main event on Saturday night, with the bout set to be shown on Paramount+.
