A major search is under way in Far North Queensland for 31-year-old Ariel Simon, who disappeared after entering bushland near Cape Tribulation Road in the Daintree.
Mr Simon was last seen at about 1.30pm on Monday, 7 September, after walking into the bush and failing to return. Police were notified roughly 90 minutes later and launched a search that afternoon.
Queensland Police, State Emergency Service volunteers, the Rescue 510 helicopter and PolAir crews are involved in the operation, which remained ongoing on Wednesday.
Mr Simon is described as Caucasian, about 210cm tall, with a slim build and long blonde hair. Police and his family have expressed concern for his welfare, saying his disappearance is out of character.
The search is taking place in the rugged Daintree area, where steep terrain, dense rainforest and waterways can make access difficult. Queensland Parks advises that mobile phone reception is limited beyond the Cape Tribulation village area, while crocodiles are also a known hazard.
Police are appealing directly to Mr Simon to make contact and reassure his family that he is safe.
