Police are seeking the driver of a red sedan after a 42-year-old man was seriously injured in a hit-and-run in Phoenix. The collision happened at about 4am on Sunday, September 13, near the junction of 27th Avenue and Glendale Avenue. Investigators say the man was lying in the northbound kerb lane of 27th Avenue when he was struck. The vehicle was described as a newer-model red four-door sedan with LED headlights. NSW poker-machine venues have claimed millions of dollars in liquor-licence discounts under the state’s live music incentive, with 59 per cent of the 645 participating venues operating gaming machines. The scheme allows clubs, hotels, small bars and other licensed businesses to receive an 80 per cent reduction in annual liquor-licence fees, along with two additional hours of liquor trading on nights when live music is performed. In return, venues must host at least 10 live performances a month, while regional businesses must stage 104 performances a year. An 18-year-old P-plate driver who allegedly crashed into Newcastle Knights supporters, injuring 10 people, had previously lost his licence, court records show. Indika Bambrick Samarasinghe’s licence was suspended in February. He appealed against the decision in April but was unsuccessful, and his licence has now been suspended again following Saturday’s crash in Newcastle. Samarasinghe was arrested at the scene and taken for mandatory drug and alcohol testing.
