An 18-year-old cheerleader charged with murder in connection with her boyfriend’s shooting has asked a court to relax her bail restrictions so she can apply to other colleges and live in student accommodation.
Gianna Kistenmacher is one of nine people charged over the 2025 killing of Trey Wright, who was 16. She has asked for her GPS monitoring and overnight curfew to be removed, and for permission to use social media.
Investigators allege that Kistenmacher took the suspected gunman, Devan Raper, to Trey’s home knowing he was armed and that a confrontation was expected.
The case centres on an online dispute between Trey and Raper over Raper’s relationship with Kistenmacher. Nine teenagers are alleged to have travelled to Trey’s home before he approached the car in which Raper was sitting.
Raper, who was 19 at the time, allegedly shot Trey in the chest, killing him.
Kistenmacher’s motion says she has complied with all her bail conditions since being released on 28 July 2025. She currently attends a local college.
A judge removed her house arrest in February and replaced it with an overnight curfew. Kistenmacher now wants the restrictions eased so she can consider studying elsewhere and live in a college dormitory.
Her lawyer has previously denied that she orchestrated Trey’s death, saying she went to hospital after the shooting to be with him.
