A Gaza Civil Defence captain is trying to find his wife and children after the announcement of a ceasefire, following more than a year of separation caused by the war.
Captain Moumen’s family left the Nuseirat refugee camp the following day, making their way north along Gaza’s coastal road. They carried the few possessions they had with them as they travelled through difficult terrain.
The family had been sheltering in Nuseirat amid constant bombing, while Moumen waited for them at the end of the road. Their journey became part of a wider movement, with hundreds of thousands of people crossing Gaza.
With no phone signal, Moumen had no way to call or arrange a meeting point. Locating his family in the crowds proved an almost impossible task as he waited anxiously for their arrival.
The reunion is documented in Gaza Family Reunion, a film made by Mohammed Sawwaf, Salah al-Haw, Ibrahim al-Otla and Mohammed Masharawi.
