Universal Studios Hollywood has projected a tribute to the Fast & Furious franchise across the Hollywood Sign to mark the opening of its new ride, Fast & Furious: Hollywood Drift.
The display lit up the sign on Thursday night, replacing its usual white lettering with moving images of cars and large Fast & Furious lettering across the “W”.
The transformation was created using projection mapping, a technical process that allowed the Hollywood Hills landmark to become part of the theme park’s launch celebrations.
Fast & Furious: Hollywood Drift is a roller coaster featuring spinning cars modelled on vehicles from the action franchise. The ride reaches speeds of up to 72 miles per hour, making it the fastest attraction Universal offers on the West Coast.
