Ajman Park, a luxury hotel and resort in Albania praised for its lake views, sun terrace and helipad, was placed under preventive seizure after prosecutors alleged that it was linked to the proceeds of international cocaine trafficking.
The complex in Xhafzotaj, near Durrës, has become a popular destination for visitors, offering accommodation, restaurants, event facilities and family amenities. Its own website describes the site as a modern complex built in 2021 around a natural pond.
Albania’s Special Prosecution Office, known as SPAK, said in August 2025 that the resort was among 14 properties seized during an investigation into a criminal organisation accused of moving cocaine from South America into European ports and laundering the profits through assets and businesses in Albania.
Local reports identified the resort’s alleged owner as Fadil Balla, also known as Jul Balla, who was sought by investigators in connection with the case. The allegations have not been tested at trial.
SPAK said the investigation involved co-operation with Europol and authorities in Belgium, France, Germany, Italy and the Netherlands. It said the group was suspected of arranging two major cocaine shipments, including consignments weighing 16.4 tonnes and 1.1 tonnes, while using cash brought back from European countries to finance investments.
The properties seized included hotels, villas, apartments, land, vehicles and company shares. Prosecutors said the suspected network invested criminal proceeds in property and commercial ventures, including tourism-related businesses.
Ajman Park advertises a restaurant, bar, event hall, children’s playground and hotel rooms with garden or lake views. The resort’s website says it is about 30 minutes from Tirana and close to the coastal city of Durrës.
SPAK said the wider investigation concerned suspected drug trafficking, money laundering and participation in a criminal organisation. Those accused are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.
