Jamelia has described her former husband as a “deadbeat dad” who is “dead to us” after she says he left the family when she was four months pregnant.
The singer and television personality opened up about the breakdown of the relationship during a recent podcast interview, recalling how her husband walked out while she was expecting their second child together.
Jamelia has kept the man’s identity private. The former couple share two daughters, while the singer is also mother to two older girls from previous relationships.
She has previously said the separation came as a devastating shock, claiming that she believed the marriage was happy until her husband suddenly announced that he was leaving.
Speaking about the impact on her family, Jamelia said she was left to raise her four daughters as a single mother. She has since described the experience as a complete upheaval, but said it ultimately forced her to rebuild her life.
The Birmingham-born star moved with her children to Dubai after the relationship ended and has spoken publicly about starting again away from the UK.
Her comments come after she previously said that the relationship breakdown occurred around three-and-a-half to four-and-a-half months into her pregnancy, leaving her facing the birth and early months of motherhood without her husband.
