Manchester United and Sunderland are among the clubs reported to have made contact over a possible move for AC Milan defender Fikayo Tomori.
The 28-year-old centre-back, who has won six England caps, is understood to be attracting significant interest from the Premier League as he approaches the latter stages of his contract in Italy.
A report has also named Newcastle United, Aston Villa and Fulham as potential suitors, giving Tomori a wide range of options should Milan decide to sell.
Premier League clubs assess Fikayo Tomori transfer
Tomori has impressed during his time in Serie A, but Milan are reportedly prepared to cash in rather than risk losing the former Chelsea player as his contract moves closer to expiry.
Manchester United could view the defender as an option for a struggling squad, although the level of competition for his signature may allow Tomori to wait for a move that better suits his ambitions.
For Sunderland, the prospect of signing an experienced Premier League defender would offer a potential solution to their defensive problems. The Black Cats finished seventh last season and qualified for the Europa League, but have won only once in their opening seven league matches this term and sit bottom of the table.
January reinforcements are therefore expected to be important to Sunderland’s hopes of avoiding relegation, with Tomori’s experience potentially making him an attractive target.
However, with several clubs reportedly interested, Tomori may prefer an opportunity that does not immediately place him in a relegation battle.
