Tottenham have been tipped to make a move for Bournemouth forward Eli Junior Kroupi in January, with the young Frenchman attracting interest after a prolific Premier League campaign.
Kroupi scored 13 goals last season while still a teenager, strengthening expectations that Bournemouth could soon receive significant offers for his services.
The Cherries have previously sold prominent players for substantial fees, including Antoine Semenyo, Dean Huijsen and Milos Kerkez. Arsenal have also been linked with Kroupi, with a bid of about £100 million reportedly capable of testing Bournemouth’s resolve.
Tottenham transfer hopes for Eli Junior Kroupi
John Wenham believes Tottenham should still be pursuing the forward, despite Kroupi having been linked with a move during the summer.
“The issue that has to be resolved in January is the striker situation,” Wenham said.
“We were heavily linked with Kroupi in the summer, and reports said we were willing to pay £80m-100m on top of the other spending we did.
“I really hope that in the background, we are still progressing that deal, so on the 1st January, we can announce him as a Tottenham player.
“I appreciate the injury he’s had, but that should mean he isn’t in the shop window for other clubs.
“Kroupi would run to play for Tottenham, as he would for Arsenal, Chelsea or whoever else, if we were confident of getting him in the summer, we should be able to do it now.”
There is currently no indication that a January agreement is close, and the claims about Tottenham’s interest remain speculative.
Even so, Kroupi is expected to be on the move before long. Tottenham could offer him a prominent role and regular playing time, while a transfer to Arsenal or another club nearer the top of the table might present greater competition for places.
