A man has been charged after an alleged golf-club attack on a customer during an early-morning coffee run in Perth’s CBD.
The victim was struck on the head on Pier St at about 5.30am on Tuesday and taken to Royal Perth Hospital with serious injuries. The alleged assault was captured on camera.
Al Absawi, who owns a nearby cafe, said the man appeared to have been attacked without warning.
“He was bleeding from the back of his head,” Mr Absawi said. “I thought he was going to actually die.”
Bystanders reportedly threw chairs to force the alleged attacker back before later restraining him until police arrived. The accused was arrested and charged with unlawful wounding.
The incident has added to concerns among Perth CBD business owners, who say they are increasingly worried about safety and damage in the city centre.
