Kate Gosselin has responded to abuse allegations made by her son Collin, saying her children know “who I truly am” after receiving supportive comments on TikTok.
Replying to one commenter who praised the sacrifices she had made, Gosselin wrote: “Wow. Thank you. I needed this encouragement. I know who I am and my kids know who I truly am and to me, that’s all that matters.”
In a separate response, she criticised those passing judgement on her and referred to the challenges of having a relative with mental illness.
“Have NO idea how lucky they are if they have no idea what it’s like having a child or relative with mental illness,” she wrote.
Collin has alleged that his mother abused him as a child, claiming she restrained him with cable ties and locked him inside a room.
Gosselin has played down the allegations, suggesting they were linked to his mental illness. Her former husband, Jon Gosselin, has said he wants her to face criminal charges.
Jon has also said he has an upcoming Netflix documentary about what happened and wants Kate to “tell the truth”.
A former Gosselin housekeeper, Ashley, separately told People that she witnessed Kate grab Collin while working for the family in 2013. She alleged: “She 110 percent abused Collin. It’s hard to almost put into words the specific hate that she had towards Collin. You could just feel it.”
Kate’s attorney told the Sun that he did not believe she had intentionally harmed Collin.
