Australian broadcaster Kyle Sandilands has revealed that his brain aneurysm has grown by 1mm since it was diagnosed last year, although doctors have not yet recommended surgery.
Sandilands, 55, disclosed the update after attending a medical appointment featured in an episode of Building The Show, part of his Kyle Sandilands Live platform.
“So I come out of the doctor’s office and unfortunately the aneurysm has gotten bigger, 1mm bigger,” he said.
The aneurysm was initially measured at 4mm and is now understood to be 5mm. Sandilands said the change was small but still unwelcome, adding that it was “not big enough yet for them to operate, but not a good sign moving forward”.
Doctors previously advised monitoring the condition because operating on it could carry a greater risk of stroke than leaving it untreated. The aneurysm’s position, behind his right eye and attached to several blood vessels, has also made surgery more complicated.
Sandilands first revealed his diagnosis in February 2025 after suffering persistent headaches. He initially said medical specialists had told him the condition required urgent attention and brain surgery.
More than a year later, the planned operation has not taken place, with doctors continuing to monitor whether the aneurysm increases in size.
Speaking after the latest appointment, Sandilands said he feared surgery might eventually become unavoidable.
“That is terrifying to me,” he said.
