Leon Bailey is set to leave Aston Villa for Olympiacos in a permanent transfer after the Greek club reached a verbal agreement for the Jamaica international.
The 29-year-old is travelling to Athens for a medical and is expected to sign a contract with the Piraeus club until June 2029. Aston Villa have given the move the green light, with the deal understood to have been arranged after the Premier League transfer window closed on Tuesday, September 1.
Bailey’s proposed move to Hull City collapsed earlier in the summer, while clubs in Saudi Arabia had also shown interest in the winger. Olympiacos subsequently moved quickly to secure an agreement.
No transfer fee has been confirmed, although reports in Greece have suggested the figure could be around €8.5 million.
Bailey joined Villa from Bayer Leverkusen in 2021 and made 163 appearances for the club, scoring 23 goals and providing 25 assists. He spent part of last season on loan at Roma, making 11 appearances before returning to England in January.
The move will bring an end to Bailey’s time at Villa Park, where he had not featured for the club this season.
