Lori Loughlin has filed for divorce from fashion designer Mossimo Giannulli, formally ending a marriage of almost 29 years after the couple separated last year.
The Full House actress submitted the petition on Friday, September 4, citing irreconcilable differences and giving August 31, 2025 as the date of separation. Court documents state that the couple will address spousal support at a later date. Loughlin, 62, and Giannulli, 63, married in November 1997 after eloping shortly before Thanksgiving. They have two daughters, Olivia Jade, 26, and Isabella “Bella” Rose, 27.
The filing also refers to a prenuptial agreement signed on October 28, 1997, which was amended in August 2015. Loughlin has asked for the division of property, assets and debts to be dealt with under the terms of that agreement. The couple’s separation became public in October 2025, when a representative confirmed that they were living apart but said no legal proceedings were under way at the time.
Their marriage had already endured intense public scrutiny following the US college admissions scandal, in which prosecutors said they paid $500,000 to have their daughters falsely presented as crew recruits in order to secure places at the University of Southern California.
Both initially denied wrongdoing before later changing their pleas. Loughlin admitted conspiracy to commit wire and mail fraud, while Giannulli pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit wire and mail fraud and honest services wire and mail fraud.
Loughlin served two months in federal prison in California and was released in December 2020. Giannulli served a five-month sentence and was released in April 2021.
The scandal led to both daughters leaving USC after their admissions attracted widespread attention. Olivia Jade, who had built a career as a YouTuber and influencer, later discussed the impact of the case publicly.
Since completing her sentence, Loughlin has gradually returned to acting. In 2024, she appeared in an episode of Curb Your Enthusiasm that made light of the controversy surrounding her and her husband.
“I try to be a forgiving person. I’m not one to hold onto stuff,” Loughlin told First for Women that year. “We’ve all been in positions to ask for forgiveness but to ask for it, you have to learn and know how to give forgiveness, too.”
