Tiphaine Auzière, the 42-year-old daughter of France’s First Lady Brigitte Macron, has made her relationship with 22-year-old business student Antoine Lecomte public, prompting comparisons with her mother’s marriage to President Emmanuel Macron.
Auzière shared a video on Instagram showing the couple during a trip to Amsterdam. The footage captures them travelling together and visiting the Dutch capital, with Lecomte appearing alongside the lawyer and politician in scenes from their getaway.
The relationship was first reported by French magazine Gala, which said the pair met over the summer in Le Touquet, the seaside resort on France’s Opal Coast closely associated with the Macron family.
Lecomte was working there as a kitesurfing instructor and taught Auzière to use an e-foil, an electrically powered surfboard. French media have described him as a student at Neoma Business School and the founder of Mission Kiteboarding, a French kitesurfing equipment brand.
A friend told Gala that the relationship was “immediately obvious” and said the couple shared an enthusiasm for Le Touquet, adventure, travel and entrepreneurship.
Auzière has reportedly introduced Lecomte to her two children, suggesting that the relationship has moved beyond a brief summer romance. French reports have also said she separated from broadcaster Cyril Hanouna earlier this year.
The 20-year age gap has inevitably drawn parallels with Brigitte Macron’s relationship with Emmanuel Macron. Brigitte Macron, 73, is 25 years older than her husband, who is 48.
Brigitte Macron is said to have reacted positively to her daughter’s new relationship. A source told Gala that her main concern was Auzière’s happiness and that she would be pleased to meet Lecomte.
Auzière, a practising lawyer who runs her own firm, has previously kept much of her private life away from the spotlight. Her public posts from Amsterdam appear to mark a decision to acknowledge the relationship openly.
