Filming for the next series of Married At First Sight Australia was interrupted by a major emergency response after a man became trapped in a gap beside the infinity pool at the cast’s Sydney hotel.
Ambulance, police and rescue vehicles were sent to One Global Resorts Green Square in Zetland on Tuesday, 8 September, as production on the 2027 season was under way.
The man was reportedly injured during the incident and was eventually removed on a spinal board. The nature and extent of his injuries have not been confirmed.
Images from the scene showed an ambulance with its side door open beside a marked police vehicle, while emergency personnel and medical equipment gathered outside the apartment-style hotel.
The response caused alarm among cast members and crew, who were filming at the property when the rescue operation began. The circumstances that led to the man becoming trapped are understood to remain under investigation.
Emergency response at the MAFS hotel
One Global Resorts Green Square, at 8 Tweed Place, features a heated infinity pool, spa, gym and landscaped facilities, according to the hotel’s website.
The Zetland property, formerly known as SKYE Suites Green Square, has served as the couples’ base since the 11th season of the reality series, which aired in 2024. Contestants stay there between the show’s dinner parties and commitment ceremonies.
The hotel was designed by Koichi Takada Architects and forms part of the Infinity by Crown Group development, close to Green Square station.
The 2027 series is already attracting attention, with former Love Island Australia contestant Zac Nunns reported to have joined the experiment as an intruder. He is due to marry TikTok influencer Vanilla Milla, with his former co-star Trent Woolman said to be serving as his best man.
Married At First Sight relationship expert John Aiken has also warned that the new season will feature unusually strong views shaped by dating debates on social media.
“We’ve certainly got some pretty extreme views that I think you’ll see, heavily influenced by TikTok. Look out for that,” he said.
The production has faced a separate disruption after one groom reportedly left the experiment during filming following an alleged off-camera incident. The exact circumstances of his departure have not been disclosed.
One Global Resorts has been contacted for comment.
