Manchester United are monitoring Borussia Dortmund midfielder Felix Nmecha, with Manchester City and Newcastle United also reportedly interested in the Germany international.
Nmecha, 25, has emerged as a potential midfield target for United after an impressive spell in the Bundesliga. He joined Dortmund from Wolfsburg in 2023 and has since established himself as an important member of the side.
However, any move would be complicated by the midfielder’s contract situation. Dortmund extended Nmecha’s deal in March until June 2030, while reports have placed his buy-out clause at €85 million, worth approximately £75.5 million.
Dortmund sporting director Ole Book said in August that he could “pretty much rule out” Nmecha leaving during the summer, although he acknowledged that “astronomical sums” could always alter the situation.
Newcastle manager Eddie Howe is understood to be an admirer of Nmecha and considered signing him in 2023 before the club opted to recruit Sandro Tonali. The midfielder also has experience of English football, having come through Manchester City’s academy before moving to Germany.
Nmecha’s form has increased interest in his services. Dortmund describe him as a central part of their long-term plans, while the Bundesliga club said he had made 108 competitive appearances for them when announcing his contract extension.
