Marc Martinez has taken over FOX 10’s main evening newscasts in Phoenix after 24 years covering local news in Arizona.
Martinez now anchors the weekday broadcasts at 6pm, 7pm and 10pm, marking a new role for one of the station’s longest-serving journalists.
He joined FOX 10 as a reporter in June 2002, having previously worked in Fresno, California, and Las Vegas, Nevada. During his time in Phoenix, he has reported on major Arizona wildfires, flown with the Canadian Snowbirds aerial team and been among the few journalists allowed aboard a space shuttle.
FOX 10 said Martinez had shared highlights from his career as he moved into the evening anchor role. His appointment follows the departure of veteran anchor John Hook, who presented his final broadcast for the station on 14 September after 33 years.
Martinez graduated with honours from Washington State University in 1995 with degrees in journalism and political science. He has received an Electronic Media award and an Associated Press award for breaking news coverage, and has been nominated for four Emmy Awards.
