A 38-year-old man has been arrested in Marietta, Georgia, after allegedly stabbing his older brother and barricading himself inside a house during a standoff with police.
Officers were called to a property on North Saint Marys Lane shortly before 9.30am on Friday, October 30, after reports of a stabbing, according to the Marietta Police Department.
They found a 40-year-old man outside the home with a stab wound to the back of his right shoulder. He was taken to hospital with injuries that were not considered life-threatening.
The injured man told officers that his younger brother was responsible and remained inside the property. Police identified the suspect as Jeffrey White.
White allegedly refused to leave the house, leading to a stand-off that lasted for several hours. Negotiators were brought in and eventually persuaded him to come outside and surrender.
He was arrested on felony warrants accusing him of aggravated assault with a weapon and aggravated battery.
Police have not released the victim’s name or disclosed what led to the alleged stabbing. Authorities later said there was no continuing threat to the public.
