Miley Cyrus helped a fan with stage 3 breast cancer shave her head before she began chemotherapy, after the pair met around the singer’s Hollywood Bowl shows in Los Angeles.
Cash Jacobs, a TikTok creator, attended the first night of Cyrus’s concert last week. Before the performance, she posted a video asking the singer to help shave her head, saying it was Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
Cash said she planned to wear a wig because she felt self-conscious about her thinning hair. She added that, if Cyrus called her name during the show, she would remove the wig and wave it so the singer could spot her.
Although nothing happened that night, Cash later said she received an email from Cyrus’s team. She was then flown back to Los Angeles for the singer’s second Hollywood Bowl performance.
In an update shared earlier this week, Cash described Cyrus helping her through what she called one of the most frightening and personal moments of her life.
Footage showed the singer speaking with Cash and offering words of encouragement, telling her that she could be “soft and strong at the same time”. Cyrus also praised her appearance, complimenting her face, ears and the shape of her head.
“Thank you for asking me to do this. I am honoured to be the one that you asked to share this moment with and thank you,” Cyrus said.
Cash said the meeting had been “everything and more”, despite the advice not to meet one’s idols. She wrote that receiving her diagnosis, having a port fitted and preparing to start chemotherapy had already been difficult before facing the treatment’s side effects.
Describing Cyrus as “the softest, coolest, KINDEST, and most genuine human being”, Cash thanked the singer for making her feel safe and comfortable, giving her time and shaving her head.
She added that Cyrus remained her biggest inspiration and that she wanted to remember the conversations they shared and what they meant to her during that period.
