A Russian minor has been detained over an alleged plan to carry out a terrorist attack in a Moscow park after a tip-off from the United States, Russia’s Federal Security Service (FSB) said.
The warning was passed to Russian authorities through established partner channels, prompting security measures around the Tsaritsyno Museum Reserve in southern Moscow.
The FSB said the teenager had posted photographs on TikTok showing him wearing tactical clothing and a balaclava while holding an object resembling an automatic weapon. Other images appeared to have been taken at Tsaritsyno, alongside the English-language caption: “I found a place”.
“We are grateful to the American side for providing the information,” the security service said.
Officials searching the minor’s home reportedly found the clothing and accessories shown in the social media posts. The FSB also said his phone contained a subscription to a neo-Nazi channel on Telegram and a significant number of searches relating to terrorist attacks, mass killings and other acts of violence.
The Russian Investigative Committee is considering what legal or procedural action should be taken, according to the FSB.
Tsaritsyno was temporarily closed on Saturday following the US tip-off. The German embassy in Moscow also warned people to avoid the site.
The Tsaritsyno historical estate, originally planned and partly built by Catherine the Great as a country residence, includes a palace museum and park complex. Its park and historic buildings were restored about 20 years ago.
