Gary Neville hailed Kai Havertz and Martin Odegaard as Arsenal’s two best players after they inspired a 2-1 comeback victory over Chelsea at the Emirates Stadium.
Chelsea took an early lead through Morgan Rogers, but Havertz restored parity before Odegaard completed the turnaround shortly after half-time.
Gary Neville praises Arsenal duo after Chelsea victory
Speaking during Sky Sports’ coverage, Neville said: “Odegaard and Havertz have been Arsenal’s two best players.”
The former Manchester United defender was particularly impressed by the understanding between the pair, who helped Arsenal regain control after a difficult start to the London derby.
Havertz levelled in the 25th minute with a low finish, punishing Chelsea after the visitors had made the brighter opening. His contribution extended beyond the goal, with his movement repeatedly creating space between Chelsea’s midfield and defence.
The decisive moment arrived five minutes after the interval. Havertz allowed a pass to run through his legs with a well-timed dummy near the edge of the area, deceiving the Chelsea defence and leaving the ball for Odegaard.
The Arsenal captain needed no invitation, striking clinically to put Mikel Arteta’s side in front and complete the recovery.
Neville’s assessment reflected the influence of Arsenal’s attacking partnership, with Havertz providing the intelligence and movement while Odegaard supplied the composure and finishing touch as the hosts secured a notable win over their London rivals.
