New rules will close a loophole allowing offenders detained in psychiatric hospitals rather than prison to receive more than £800 a month in Universal Credit.
The changes are intended to end payments to people held in hospital under detention orders, bringing their access to the benefit into line with the circumstances of those serving prison sentences.
