Atlanta police are searching for a second suspect after a shootout outside a south-west Atlanta apartment complex sent stray bullets through two homes, injuring two women.
The gunfire broke out at about 4.20pm on Thursday, November 5, at the Castleton Apartments on Bent Creek Way, near Campbellton Road. Investigators have released surveillance footage showing an armed person wearing a black hoodie and blue jeans.
Police said several people exchanged fire in the complex’s car park before fleeing. Bullets pierced the walls of two separate flats, striking a 19-year-old woman and a 21-year-old woman inside.
Both victims were awake and breathing when emergency crews took them to hospital. Their names and current conditions have not been released.
Officers detained a 15-year-old boy at the scene. He has been charged with aggravated assault, first-degree criminal damage to property, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony and possession of a handgun by someone under 18.
The teenager, whose name has not been released because he is a juvenile, was taken to the Metro Regional Youth Detention Center.
Police have not identified the second suspect beyond the clothing shown in the footage. They have also not said what sparked the shooting.
