A 20-year-old man has died after losing control of a Toyota Prado and rolling on an unsealed section of the Kalgoorlie Desert Race track in Western Australia.
The crash happened at about 4.30pm yesterday during the four-day off-road racing event at Kanowna, near Lake Perkolilli. WA Police said the driver died at the scene.
Three passengers were taken to hospital with serious injuries: a 60-year-old woman and two girls aged 14 and 12.
Hundreds of people had gathered at the remote racetrack earlier in the day to watch the final day of the annual Kalgoorlie Desert Race.
Major Crash investigators are examining the scene and have appealed for anyone who attended the event and saw the vehicle before the crash to contact Crime Stoppers.
