Real Madrid have made an enquiry about Napoli midfielder Scott McTominay, according to reports, as uncertainty grows over the Scotland international’s future in Italy.
The 29-year-old has yet to agree a new contract with Napoli and is also being linked with a return to Manchester United, where he previously worked under Jose Mourinho.
Real Madrid consider Scott McTominay transfer
Tuttomercatoweb reports that Real Madrid have joined the clubs monitoring McTominay’s situation. The interest could offer Mourinho the chance to reunite with the midfielder at the Spanish club.
McTominay has been linked with United and other Premier League sides, while Sacha Tavolieri has reported that the former Red Devils player is keen to return to England.
However, a move to Real Madrid would present a different option for the Napoli midfielder. Mourinho is understood to have played an important role in introducing McTominay to first-team football during their time together at Old Trafford.
McTominay has since established himself as an influential player for Napoli, scoring 27 goals in 82 appearances for the Italian club. His form also helped the side win the Serie A title in the 2024/25 season.
Whether his preference is a Premier League return could affect Real Madrid’s prospects, but the reported enquiry leaves the Spanish club in contention while McTominay’s contract situation remains unresolved.
