Arizona Snowbowl recorded six inches of snow as a storm swept across the state, offering an early taste of winter before a milder spell takes hold.
The fresh snowfall was reported at the resort near Flagstaff, where preparations for the ski season are under way. Snowmaking is also continuing ahead of Snowbowl’s scheduled opening on November 20.
FOX 10 meteorologist Erica Horvatin said temperatures are expected to ease during the coming week, bringing calmer and milder conditions to much of Arizona.
However, the settled weather is not expected to last. Rain chances are forecast to return across parts of the state over Halloween weekend, with conditions likely to become unsettled again towards the end of the week.
The National Weather Service in Flagstaff said showers and isolated thunderstorms could linger in northern and eastern Arizona before warmer, drier weather develops during the first half of the week.
