Steve Burton has asked a judge for more parenting time with his 12-year-old daughter, claiming his former wife, Sheree Gustin, is refusing to alter their custody arrangements so he can take her to the Daytime Emmys.
The General Hospital actor is nominated at the ceremony on October 30 and says he made a reasonable request to swap custody days. He alleges the dispute is another example of Gustin being unwilling to co-operate over their daughter’s care.

The disagreement comes amid a wider dispute over Gustin’s attempt to move their daughter from California to Tennessee. Burton says she decided to remain in Tennessee after he chose to return to California.
Burton has said he bought a new home and rejoined General Hospital after Gustin represented that she would stay in Orange County, California.
Gustin has disputed his position, arguing that Burton’s decision to move across the country and then return should “not result in an increase in his parenting time, as it shows ongoing instability”. She also claims he is frequently busy with work.
She has rejected Burton’s suggestion that she dislikes his new wife, Michelle, saying he is portraying her reluctance to share custody with Michelle as unreasonable and overlooking the point she is making.
Burton filed for divorce from Gustin in 2022 after 23 years of marriage. The separation followed Gustin’s announcement that she was pregnant, after which Burton said they were separated and that the child was not his.
