Steve McBee Sr has agreed to pay more than 7.1 million US dollars to the federal government and the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) in a crop insurance case.
Legal documents filed on Thursday state that Mr McBee must pay a forfeiture money judgment of $3,158,923, together with $4,022,124 in full restitution to the USDA.
The agreement also requires him to pay $300,000 within 14 days of the settlement’s effective date. The documents state that properties he is considering selling have been reviewed to help cover the amount owed.
The financial settlement follows Mr McBee’s guilty plea to one count of making a false statement in connection with crop insurance.
The “McBee Dynasty” star was released from prison last month after serving nearly a year behind bars. His early release was partly enabled by his participation in a programme that reduced the time he had to spend in custody.
He is expected to spend several months under home confinement.
